Final Exam

For this final exam I will be naming my team of one the A – Team. Why did I choose this name because this a solo effort and I know the outcome of my efforts will be an A. My team hashtag will be #CAP105ATEAM.

I made this logo in an ideal sense to represent a classic aesthetic. I wanted to keep the logo simple for the sake of clarity for my audience. For the sake of branding I put the team hashtag under the A – Team team name. The hashtag is #CAP105ATEAM , I italicized the hashtag so it sticks out.

GVSU Water Tower.
Location: [Allendale Campus] Next to the Campus health center and across from laker village.
The water tower at GVSU was built in 1963. The Water Tower features the iconic GV logo in Royal Blue with an all black lining making it possible to be seen all across campus!
The Transformational Link by Gary Kulak.
Location: [Allendale Campus] After the Mackinac Bridge, just before Au Sable and the Great Lakes buildings.
The Transformational Link aka “The Blue structure” on campus is very popular amongst staff and students. Students and Staff know that walking under the structure is an omen of bad luck. The structure is significant to GVSU in that it dons the same royal blue we see in the GV logo and is an integral piece of art known by staff and students.
Amaranth by Cyril Lixneberg
Location: [Allendale Campus] In front of Mackinac Hall near the bus stop
The Amaranth but known by staff and students as the yellow structure is a mystery to staff and students alike. Some people feel that this structure is a way for freshman to find their way home after a long night out others believe this statue gives good luck to students who pass by the structure on their way into Mackinac Hall.
The L. Willam “Bill” Seidman statue.
Location: [Allendale Campus] In front of the Mary Idema Pew Library across from Kirkhof.
The L Willam “Bill” Seidman statue is of great significance to GVSU. This is due to the fact that he founded GVSU. I thank Mr. Seidman for his contribution to liberal education and giving me the opportunity to pursue an education here at GVSU.
Heaven and Earth by James Clover.
Location: [Allendale Campus] Outdoor Plaza between Zumberge and Lake Huron Hall
This is my favorite sculpture on campus because of the free flow aesthetic this piece has, and how it’s topped with a star. The structure is captivating from all angles and is intricate in detail. This piece has fascinated me since freshman year.

The popular Hadouken meme comes from the video game Street Fighter. In the Video game the player performs a move where they launch the opposing player into the air with an energy ball. This move has seen parodies most notably in Family Guy where Peter fights Mr. Wishie Washee and he launches a Hadouken at Mr. Wishie Washee. The meme came around in the mid to late 2000’s and is performed by one person jumping in the air in the form of a c and the other person placing their their hands together at the base of their palms and holding this form like they let go of the Hadouken.

The famous Vadering Meme comes from Star Wars and is performed by one person putting the other in choke hold like Darth Vader did in Star Wars. This meme gained popularity from Rob Martinez who was performing Hadouken memes with his church group Martinez then decided to create the Vadering hashtag and the meme as well. Martinez tagged Chick-fil-a hopping for a retweet. The tweet took off and the Vadering meme was born.

The Drakeposting aka (Hotline Bling) meme came from Drake’s 2016 smash hit single Hotline Bling. In his video Drake did a multitude of dance moves and social media ran with many screen grabs from the video. This meme however has the most iconic relationship to the song. The meaning of the meme is for someone to disprove of something then approve of something else below I’ve put a couple photos together show casing the functionality of the meme.

My personal favorite meme is the doge meme. This meme is well known by anybody in my generation and people constantly refer to dogs not as dogs but doges. The meme spelling came from a show titled Homestar Runner’s in an episode titled Biz Cas Fri Homestar calls his friend Strong Bad his “doge” trying to distract him from his work. The photo of the meme came from a Shiba Inu dog named Kabosu the quirky shot of the dog glaring at the camera was then posted to tumblr with the caption “you have encountered a DOGE”. The meme then took off from their with people posting picture of Kabosu with captions floating around his head with the word Doge all around him. People in my generation find this meme significant because it adds on to the cuteness of their dogs. Calling a dog, a doge is fun to say and always gets a laugh.

GVSU is a great school. In my opinion I see the positive effects Grand Valley has had in my life. Creating careers and memories for life is apart of the Laker Effect. In researching the GVSU annual report I found the Endowment Fund Growth to be growing at a steady rate. This last of year of 2018 GVSU saw over ten million dollars in the amount of growth from last year.

In reading and researching what an endowment fund is it is when one person donates money or land for a specific purpose. In looking at this infographic I saw the growth constantly occurring. In analyzing this information I feel GVSU grads want to see more opportunities and growth for GVSU because the University has helped them tremendously.

I feel proud to be a part of a university where graduates and other donors want to giveback to my school. I feel that this is for the purpose of enhancing my education and others alike. I see GVSU constantly improving and growing and this I believe is due to the dollars we receive from donors and the growth of student body. I hope the endowment fund maintains growth and GVSU continues to prosper.

What I love about GVSU is the friends Ive made and the memories I have here. In my tweet I decided to post this picture of my Dad and me at the GVSU x Tigers game because we are wearing the special edition hats and it was great memory that I have and that will be a part of me being a Laker for a lifetime.
